Completed in 2014, the FloWave Ocean Energy听Research Facility is the world鈥檚 most sophisticated听onshore laboratory for replicating ocean conditions听and testing ocean technologies. One of the largest听research infrastructures belonging to the University,听the FloWave facility contains a 25m diameter test听tank which uniquely recreates scale versions of听complex ocean conditions, including multi-directional听wind-blown waves, long-period ocean swells and fast听tidal currents. Consequently, the facility is much in听demand by industry and researchers from across the听globe and, in combination with Orkney鈥檚 European听Marine Energy Centre, helps maintain Scotland鈥檚听position at the forefront of clean ocean energy听research, development and innovation.听听

Demonstrations of the FloWave test tank, showing the ways in which it can recreate versions of complex ocean conditions, will take place every 15 minutes between 11am and 2pm.
