FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility, School of Engineering - University of Edinburgh
Edinburgh

Completed in 2014, the FloWave Ocean EnergyÌýResearch Facility is the world’s most sophisticatedÌýonshore laboratory for replicating ocean conditionsÌýand testing ocean technologies. One of the largestÌýresearch infrastructures belonging to the University,Ìýthe FloWave facility contains a 25m diameter testÌýtank which uniquely recreates scale versions ofÌýcomplex ocean conditions, including multi-directionalÌýwind-blown waves, long-period ocean swells and fastÌýtidal currents. Consequently, the facility is much inÌýdemand by industry and researchers from across theÌýglobe and, in combination with Orkney’s EuropeanÌýMarine Energy Centre, helps maintain Scotland’sÌýposition at the forefront of clean ocean energyÌýresearch, development and innovation.ÌýÌý
